Rollers and Riding

So I have a pet peeve that I really hate about people that drive vehicles with 4 wheels. I think that unless you have ridden on two on a regular basis you may have not even noticed. It's the rollers. Often while traveling along a road you will come up to a vehicle that is stopped or is approaching from a side street. The correct way to do this is to come to a COMPLETE STOP, and then WAIT for my motorcycle to pass, and THEN accelerate. All too often though some idiot, usually on a cell phone I might add, will start to roll forward before I have passed, or even worse won't stop at all and will slowly continue to roll. Now those of you that are trapped in the huge steel cages known as cars and SUVs may not even take notice of this. If they pull out in front of you then it isn't likely to do much to you or your car. On the other hand when riding the proper way (on two wheels of course) this rolling is an indicator that said roller may pull out in front of you. Drivers pulling in front of motorcycles is the most common form of motorcycle related fatalities and accidents. SO PLEASE, AT LEAST WHEN YOU SEE A MOTOTRYCLE, DON'T ROLL UNTIL THE BIKE HAS CLEARED THE INTERSECTION!!! I don't know what other motorcycle riders do, but I watch the car clear until it is behind me through my peripheral vision, that way I could-can avoid the trapped contents of the SUV from hitting me. And speaking of the trapped contents the government needs to step in and pass a law to keep these idiots from driving with the phone to thier ear. People are poor enough drivers as it is, but to add another distraction drives me CRAZY. When I am on my motorcycle that is all I do is concentrate on riding safely. People get in their cars and they don't concentrate on ANYTHING but the radio and thier cell phone. I'm normally not one for the government to set into our lives, but this needs to stop. I think that cell phones should have a GPS chip that shuts them off if traveling more than 15 MPH. But what of the passengers? I don't care. If they want to talk on the phone while in a car then you need to come to a stop and get off the road.

So the weather was nice today so we went out for a ride. It was really frustrating because I really sucked. The weather has been so rainy and snowy the last few weeks that I haven't been able to get out and ride. I have worked really hard to lose the weight that I have (65 pounds so far), and to get the stamina that I have gained, and I don't want to lose it. Another interesting and cool thing was to watch Bob. He has been recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This explains why he hasn't been himself the last few weeks. Watching him today was as if someone put new batteries in him. He was always fast, but now he is REALLY fast. Someday I want to be like Bob.

DON'T ROLL, and RIDE LIKE BOB.
