6 to 12 inches you say...

So the weatherpeople were wrong big time yesterday. AGAIN. One of the local weather guys thinks it is funny to wear this hideous white jacket when he thinks that the valley is due for a snow storm. Well yesterday afternoon as I watched the news here was "snowbank" predicting 1-6" on the valley floor and 6-12" on the benches. I live on the benches, and we were well below the 1" mark. I would call it a light dusting. Why can't they ever get it right? Maybe sometime this year I will get to use my snowblower...

Snowbank used to be fairly accurate. I wonder if anymore they just take the latest computer model and then go read it on the air. Do they ever look outside or at a radar? Seems like our local weatherpeople spend more time recountig the days weather and less time telling us an acurate forcast. They usually have the temperature correct, but they rarely ever get the rain-snow right. Is there something special about Salt Lake City that makes the weather so hard to get correct? Sure seems that in other parts of the country they get it right more than they get it wrong.

Valentino Rossi

This morning I found myself reading about Valentio Rossi the 2004 MotoGP champion. He is quite an impressive rider. He has won the World championship 6 times (once each on the 125cc, 250cc, & 500cc), and now three successive years on the MotoGP (2002, 2003,& 2004). MotoGP is the pinnacle of the motorcycle racing world (like Formula One is for cars --Sorry NASCAR). I was a true fan when Rossi won the championship in 2002 and 2003. It was expected of him to win. He was riding the Honda RC211V which many consider the most superior motorcycle ever built. I hope that someday in the near future Honda will release a street going version of the RC211 as they have done in the past with the RC models. If they build it I will come (with cash in hand). At the end of the 2003 season Rossi made an announcement that he would be leaving Honda to join Yamaha for the 2004 season. My jaw dropped. Why would he leave the best team and best bike in the world to go ride the Yamaha? The Yamaha was considered to be far inferior to the Honda (not even a 2nd or 3rd), so why would he leave? He wanted to prove that he was the best rider in the world, if not the best rider ever. I think he did just that, on both accounts. Valentino made for an exciting race year. Unfortunately I did not get to watch one singe race, but I was able to keep up on the net: MotoGP.

Anyway, for you non riders out there, go check it out.
See what exciting racing is all about...
See a championship that isn't won until the end of the season...
See the best rider motorcyling has ever seen...

Rossi in full lean
