The Religion of Peace Strikes Again

That’s right, the Muslims, the official religion of peace bombed two Christian churches because the pope cited an obscure medieval text that characterizes some of the teachings of Islam’s founder as “evil and inhuman.” Let’s think about this for a minute. You get criticized for being evil and inhuman, and instead of responding in a peaceful and human manner you go blow shit up. Good job guys. Way to contradict what he said by having a nice civil discourse on the true teachings of peace that Islam does in fact profess. Unbelievable!

It's about damn time!

Yesterday California announced that they are banning the use of cell phones in moving vehicles starting July 1, 2008. You can still use a hands free cell phone, and I think this is OK, as it is no different than talking to someone in the passenger seat or listening to the radio. Now if we coould only get the same law passed in Utah. My only beef with the current law is that the penelties aren't stiff enough. $20.00 for a first offence and $50.00 for the second isn't enough to persuade people to stop. Treat it like a DUI, and impose stiffer fines I say!

A GIXXER FOR MARK???

So I have never fancied myself as a big fan of Suzuki motorcycles. I don’t have any particular reason to not like them, but it probably has to do with the fact that most of the squids I know ride them. The GSX-R1000 has been without a doubt a belly-button bike, everyone has one. A friend of mine is thinking of buying a new motorcycle and has really narrowed in on the Suzuki V-Strom 650. Really a practical bike for his needs and desires. Not the kind of bike I fancy in the near future, but if I had room and money I could see room in my stable for such a steed. Anyway I have always liked the idea of the 750cc sportbikes, but thanks to AMA and World Superbike moving away from the 750 four cylinder Suzuki is really the last vestige that produces such a bike, a 750 that weighs the same as 600, but has the power of the 1000cc bikes from just a few years ago. As I eyed the black 2006 GSX-R750 in person for the first time I thought to myself, “boy that is good looking.” And, “I really like the stubby, almost under belly exhaust.” But typically the GIXXERS have been painful on the wrists, this is why I like the F4i that I ride, it is a reasonably comfortable sportbike, comfortable enough to put 1000 miles on her in one day. But as I sat on the 750 I realized that it was really close to my F4i, probably close enough that I could live with it. I am still leaning towards the KTM Superduke 990 as a replacement to my Honda, but the GIXXER has suddenly become a close second. I still haven't seen a KTM 990 in person, and pictures just dont do a motorcycle justice. Only time will tell.
