5 - 3 - 1

So today I had another race in the Intermountain Cup Race Series. This one was at Soldiers Hollow. I took 1st. I am totally stoked (and shocked). I really concentrated hard on keeping my pace and my tempo, and before I knew it there was a good distance between me and the next rider (I actually relaxed a little towards the end). When we first took off three of us broke away in a pack, and I since last time I felt that I went out to hard I decided to back off a little let things sort themselves out. I think that was a good idea. I still cramped up a little durung the race. I'm not sure if it is because I get nervous, or if it is because I push myself harder. I think that officially I won by over three minutes, but the results aren't posted yet, so I will have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest. This win will likely put me in first for the points in the clydesdale class (the fat ass class). This is better than I would have ever dreamed. I really went into this only wanting to finish in the top 5 in points, but as time goes forward I may have a shot at winning the series. I really had a blast today. The course was almost perfect, and is really fast. I got a $25.00 gift certificate to Spin Cycle (just up the street from me), and so I almost recouped me entrance fee. I figure I am more than even since I get a cool T-shirt out of the deal too.
